Thank you for your reply on Zimerman, I find this topic very interesting, to me, what it comes down to, is what is understood by "nationality + artist", and what the wikipedia readers understand when they see "polnisch-schweizerischer Pianist". I brought this up because I think it is misleading, note that only wikipedia in German has this wording. In case of an adult professional who moved to another country, maintains connection with his home country and has an international career, I don't think it's so straight forward. In my opinion, the artistic heritage and cultural background is what defines it. Because it is a living artist, to be able to write "polnisch-schweizerischer Pianist", I would need a source that states that Zimmerman identifies as Swiss - I think being integrated in the society where you live for many years is not the same. I relate to this because I am a Pole, naturalized Swiss, living in Switzerland for almost half of my life, and although I am fully integrated I do not consider myself Swiss. As comparison, I thought of a living actress Emily Blunt who became American 8 years ago, and I see in German wikipedia she is already a Brithish-American actress, while not in the English one, and in many sources she states she became US citizen for tax purposes and even mentioned regretting having done that. My point being, it is not automatic in case of "acquired" nationalities, and should rather be worded "Polish artist, naturalized Swiss in... Tremendo (Diskussion) 17:25, 10. Mär. 2024 (CET)[Beantworten]

@Tremendo: I think one more thing to consider is that German-language Wikipedia, when compared to other language versions, tends indeed to emphasize citizenship equally to or even more than the cultural or ethnical background of a person, as you have noted with your example of Emily Blunt. There are also good reasons for that. Citizenship is a legally defined, "hard" fact; as a naturalized Swiss citizen, you know that you have exactly the same rights and duties as a Swiss-born citizen - from a legal standpoint you're simply Swiss now. Or Swiss-Polish, if you retained dual citizenship. It is this legal definition we usually follow, as it avoids often lengthy discussions on the nature and deepness of a person's cultural or ethnical ties to a particular country or nation, what they "identify" with, as you say... So, this is another aspect to consider, in addition to the length of Krystian Zimerman living in Switzerland and his apparent willingness to engage with the local culture, as I wrote on Diskussion:Krystian Zimerman. In this wider context of how German-language Wikipedia handles these things, I think calling Zimerman "polnisch-schweizerisch" and Emily Blunt "britisch-US-amerikanisch" is quite uncontroversial. But I can't deny that we've found other solutions in some cases, see for example Tina Turner. Even though Tina Turner renounced her American citizenship and was legally solely a Swiss citizen for the last 10 years of her life - and living in Switzerland since 1995 -, the first sentence in that article calls her "eine US-amerikanische Sängerin und Schauspielerin", only the second sentence then states "Als sie 2013 Schweizerin wurde, gab sie die US-Staatsbürgerschaft auf". I wouldn't be totally opposed to rewording the lead section of the Zimerman article in a similar way, maybe in the course of expanding it a bit from the very short sentence which it is now, but I don't see it as necessary (that is, personally, I consider "polnisch-schweizerisch" in this case still as fine), so I would not hinder you if you want to propose and/or enact such a change (but in this German-language project, this would ultimately need a German discussion on the talk page), but I would also not support it if there's resistance from others, given our practice regarding citizenship. Crosswiki spam[Quelltext bearbeiten]

Hi Gestumblindi, my native language is not German and I am not familiar with your process. That's why I wanted to make a brief explanation here. When you look at the Wikidata page of the created article, you will see that the same people in all Wikis create the same article at regular intervals for spam purposes. Articles created on most Wikis were quickly deleted. The decision is yours. If you want, you can reopen the article for discussion, or you can leave the article as it is. Best regards. --Wooze (Diskussion) 00:06, 25. Mär. 2024 (CET)[Beantworten]

Hi Wooze, thanks for your message. As the article Egov.Press has already gone through a formal deletion discussion here and the admin processing the request, Kenneth Wehr, has decided to keep the article, you can no longer use the "Schnelllöschantrag" speedy deletion process via {{Delete}} (which redirects to our {{Löschen}}). You would have to use the Löschprüfung process which is a procedure to review admin decisons to delete or to keep articles. So, when I rejected your speedy deletion request - and also the subsequent one by Zafer - I did so only on procedural grounds. Kenneth could of course revisit his decision, so I have pinged him here. Gestumblindi 01:25, 25. Mär. 2024 (CET)[Beantworten]
I decided to keep the article, because it had been edited so much, that it was not the same article anymore, so I could not regard it as spam anymore. Most of the other wikis do not have the same ressources, so I can understand, that deleting the articles in those wikis is the usual and better option, and I would have done the same, if not it had been improved shortly after. --Kenneth Wehr (Diskussion) 04:57, 25. Mär. 2024 (CET)[Beantworten]
To be honest I don't understand your reasoning Kenneth. Yes the article has been edited much, but at the time of your decision mostly by the same author who is responsible for this xwiki spam. I don't think spam can improve just because a spammer does some more edits to the same page. Shortly after you've kept the article the spammer (now logged-out) even removed your revise-template themselves [1]. And „ließt sich sehr übersetzt“ was a huge understatement, the article was machine translated to a dozen languages as I noted in the deletion discussion.
Anyway, I'm usually not involved in deletion discussions, so I accept your decision. --Johannnes89 (Diskussion) 07:06, 25.

Herzlichen Dank, Thereza Mengs (WMDE) 14:30, 26. Mär. 2024 (CET)[Beantworten]
