Dr. Achim Berg is one of the best-known expert, management consultants, advisors and collumnists in the fashion and luxury industry. He is the editor of the State of Fashion Report and a planned non-fiction book on “the Future of Fashion.” He is frequently featured in industry press, podcasts, at summits and conferences, and even in national TV.


Background:

Dr. Achim Berg, born December 21, 1972 in Wiesbaden, Germany, is a management consultant, fashion industry advisor and contributing columnist on the future of fashion and luxury goods.

He spent 24 years with multinational strategy and management consulting firm McKinsey & Company, where he held the roles of partner and senior partner. He left the firm in February 2024 and founded the advisory firm and think thank The Future of Fashion GmbH.

On March 1, 2024, Berg was appointed as external advisor to Spanish fashion retailer Mango’s CEO Toni Ruiz, as well as to the company’s management team.

McKinsey & Company

Early in his career at McKinsey & Company, Berg focused on the fashion and luxury industry and was instrumental in founding the firm’s Apparel, Fashion and Luxury (AF&L) practice in 2010. After growing and leading McKinsey & Company’s Europe, the Middle East and Africa team, where he advised numerous brands as well as retail, wholesaling and manufacturing businesses on strategic and operational issues, he became the first global leader of the practice in 2015. Berg initiated the firm’s partnership with fashion media company The Business of Fashion, founded by Imran Amed.

Berg was the co-editor of McKinsey & Company and The Business of Fashion State of Fashion report for seven years. He has written feature articles for The Business of Fashion, WWD, and Sourcing Journal. He has been quoted as an expert source in Manager Magazine, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, FAZ. He is a regular speaker at fashion and luxury industry events, in podcasts, or TV shows.
