English: Basic sketch of general projection with varying center.
Ideal display size when using the draw: multiple of 207 x 151 pixels.
Case 1: Model of parametric fish eye projection with shifted projection center.
The three-dimensional environment is projected onto a sphere. The black circle represents this sphere of environment with its center used as projection point. It's also the orign of a fictional coordinate system with its z-axis pointing upwards, which is also optical axis. The parameter Z determines the z value of the new projection center. From this projection center the points of environment sphere will be projected onto the image plane.
Mapping function:
r image radius
f focal length
Z control parameter (z value)
θ polar angle of object
Case 2: Model of Pannini projection (alternative spelling: Panini projection).
The three-dimensional environment is projected onto a cylinder. From projection center (x = 0, y = 0, z = Z) the points of cylinder will be projected onto the image plane.
Mapping function: ;
x, y cartesian image position
λ,
φ geographical object position
Abbildungsfunktion: ;
x, y kartesische Bildposition
