Titel
2007T33 Silver pendant medallion
Beschreibung
English: Silver pendant medallion. A disc with a separate flat-sectioned loop soldered to the apex (now broken, two pieces) Comprising: Obverse: 1650 (with orb between) / FORDERT SE/INE FURCHT UND / EHR SONST BE/STEHT ER NIM/MER MEHR ("Fordert" could be meant literally as "Demand" or it could be an odd form of "Fördert" (from "fördern" - to promote), missing the two dots)
Translation: Promote/Demand Fear/Respect and Honour for Him or he will cease to be. That's very literal, you might as well say "respect and honour Him". Reverse: a shield between two fronds and bearing the arms of Saxony: Barry of ten [Sable and Or] a crancelin (or rautenkranz) in bend [Vert] / GOTT DEN / HERRN LOBT UND / EHRT DER DEN / FRIEDEN UNS / BESCHERT. / (possible small B in base)
Translation: Praise and honour God the Lord who brings/gives us Peace. Each is a rhyme of two lines in old-fashioned German - a little prayer or kind of commandment for devout living. Translation by Kathrin Felder. Date: 1650.
