Three masted barque in open ocean. Originally the Cupica, built in 1888 in Londonderry by J. C. Bigger, it was bought in 1907 by A. Hartrodt and renamed Gretchen Hartrodt after his first daughter. Sailed to Australia under the command of Captain C. Cadsen - in competition to the Australian Conference which paid Mr. Hartrodt 50,000 Gold Mark for discontinuing the service and the vessel was sold to a Norwegian company. Finally it flew the Canadian flag and was sunk by a German submarine in 1917 off the coast of England.
