Two cylinder Shay locomotive on low level bridge, part of the Canungra Pine Creek Tramway. The Shay was built by Lima, USA, in 1902 for the North Mount Lyell Mining Company of Tasmania where it received its number 5. It had nine inch bore cylinders and eight inch strokes. Wheels were 27 inches in diameter and it weighed 16 tons. Locomotive was fitted with a bell and a large oil headlamp. The locomotive was run on cordwood and dead timber. By 1915, the engine was converted to coal firing. Load of three flat bed wagons with logs. (Description supplied with photograph.).
