I don't agree with the description. To be "seemingly rising above the lunar surface" earth would need to touch the horizon. As sun does during sunrise.

The photo rather shows half-earth in the sense of half-moon; i.e. one can see the border between day and night on earth. And --as far as I know-- that is something which should be visible from the moon's surface, not only "from someone in orbit around the Moon"

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
