Telul eth-Thalathat (arabisch تلول الثلاثات) ist ein archäologischer Siedlungshügel (Tell) im irakischen Gouvernement Ninawa. Der Tell liegt 64 km westlich von Mossul und 20 km nördlich von Tal Afar.
Archäologie
[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]Der Standort besteht aus mindestens fünf separaten Tells oder Siedlungshügeln. Telul eth-Thalathat wurde vier Saisons lang zwischen 1956 und 1965 und erneut 1976 von einem Team der Irak-Iran-Archäologischen Expedition der Universität Tokio ausgegraben. Das Hauptaugenmerk lag auf der Etablierung einer vollständigen Ninevite 5-Sequenz auf Tell V. Die ersten beiden Staffeln, 1956 und 1957, wurden von N. Egami geleitet und arbeiteten auf Tell II. Bestattungen, Wohngebiete und ein vermutlicher Tempel wurden freigelegt.[1][2] Die letzte Saison wurde von S. Fukai geleitet. [3][4][5] Unter den Kleinfunden befand sich ein kleines quadratisches Stempelsiegel mit zwei menschlichen Figuren aus dem späten 4. oder frühen 5. Jahrtausend v. Chr.[6]
Geschichte
[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]Telul eth-Thalathat war in der Ubaid-, Ninive-5- und Uruk-Zeit sowie während der mittelassyrischen Zeit besiedelt. Bei Ausgrabungen wurden über 20 Öfen und eine Reihe von Bestattungen sowie einige Figuren und Spindelwirtel entdeckt.[7] Außerdem wurden elf neolithische Tonmarken geborgen.[8] Auf Tell V wurde eine einzige Siedlung aus Ninive 5 gefunden. Es umfasste ein 6 mal 18 Meter großes Gebäude, das als Getreidespeicher interpretiert wurde.[9] Tell II war vom Töpferneolithikum bis zur Mitteluruk-Zeit besiedelt.[10]
