Hallo,

according to en:International Workers' Olympiads, the sport played was Czech handball but not Field handball. Who is wrong ? Thanks. --LeFnake (Diskussion) 15:44, 6. Jun. 2024 (CEST)Beantworten

@LeFnake: I'm 80% sure that my results at the German Wikipedia are field handball. Because except Poland I have no source that one of the other countries ever played Czech handball. Maybe there was a separate field handball tournament. But at the history patch of Czech handball the Arbeiterolympiade is not mentioned. Nowadays, you probably already saw it, but on en:1937 Workers' Summer Olympiad, there is external link saying that Tchecoslovakia was 3rd and no 4th is given... If Tchecoslovakia really participated, it may mean that it was Czech handball, unless they also used to play field handball :-D Or something in between (actually I don't know much about Czech handball) O:)
About history patch of Czech handball, I don't know if Arbeiterolympiade has been important enough to be mentionned ?

@LeFnake:I did further research. I think field handball and Czech handball "Hazena" were played in 1937. And some sources did a mix-up.
If you search "Hazena" at the Belgium press archive you get some results: [1]
Most notable at page 9 of this source you can see the program of the games.
  • Friday 30 July
    • Handball:
      • 16:45: Belgium vs. Switzerland
      • 18:00: Netherlands vs. Palestina
    • Hazena: (right column in the middle)
      • 10:00: Demonstration game
  • Saturday 31 July
    • Handball:
      • 16:45: Game of place 3
  • 1. August
    • Handball (Left bottom corner)
      • 16:00: Final
This source at page 7 from 31 August have at the left bottom corner: "Hand-Ball Tchécoslovaquie – Holland, 5–2. I think this is the result of the demonstration game.
Also the official program don't list Czechoslovakia at the handball page.
In conclusion I think all my articles are about field handball and at the 1937 edition there was one Hazena demonstration game between Czechoslovakia and Netherlands. ----🤾‍♂️ Malo95 (Diskussion) 17:51, 16. Jun. 2024 (CEST)Beantworten
