Todesdatum

Ich hab mich mal schlau gemacht, was große Teile der übrigen wikipedia Projekte Schönes schreiben: 25. April findet sich bei: Wikipedia in russisch, polnisch, schwedisch, englisch, japanisch, hebräisch, ungarisch und portugiesisch. Teils auch die italienische und die spanische Wikipedia. Teils meint dabei, dass bei Geburts- und Todesdatum der 20. April steht und im Text dann wieder vom 25. April. Allein vom 20. spricht die französischsprachige Wikipedia und vom 3. April die deutschsprachige. Zumindest in der türkischen und finnischen wird kein Datum angegeben. Vielleicht wäre es ratsam nochmal einen Blick in ne Biografie zu werfen. --Thor sten js 13:05, 24. Die Enzyklopädie Philosophie und Wissenschaftstheorie, 2. Aufl., schreibt zu den Lebensdaten: * Genua 14.2.1404; gestorben 25. April 1472. (Artikel von Martin Warnke). Auf der Seite des LBA-Instituts heißt es, zitiert aus biographischen Angaben von Cecil Grayson, ebenfalls, er sei am 14. Februar geboren: http://www.fondazioneleonbattistaalberti.it/lba.html. Dort steht auch, er sei im April 1472 gestorben, das Testament sei auf den 19. April datiert. --131.188.201.99 14:31, 25. Feb. 2009 (CET)

You must know that for many years I have been working with his De Cifris, ignoring many details of his life having no bearing on my work. I always took for granted what previous authors, encyclopaedias etc. were saying. Only recently I noted the discrepancy between the two birth dates in different sources and for curiosity asked what Galimberti, Paoli and Bertolini had to say about it.

Galimberti (my publisher) reproached me because I had forgotten his note to an important paper he wrote about the art of printing. Here it is:

[notes] Leon Battista Alberti nasce a Genova il 18 febbraio 1404 e muore a Roma il 20 aprile 1472 (L. Bertolini, Chronlologie de la vie de Leon Battista Alberti in Alberti umaniste, architecte, Musée du Louvre, Paris 2006, pp. 269-272).

Paoli is a very important French student of Alberti and has access to this source. He says an autograph of Alberti has been found, which definitely dismisses any doubt.

Lucia Bertolini also confirmed to me that the 18 April date is correct. She is the most competent scholar of Alberti in Italy and helped me with the philological edition of De Cifris and the discovery of the last two known manuscripts.

I forgot the question of the death date, but I presume Lucia knows what she is saying. Remember that all these people do not use secondary sources, (stories, encyclopaedias, popular publications, old biographers etc.) but study the primary sources available. Galimberti says the death date is the same as the date when a new priest was appointed in Gangalandi.

I am old and short-sighted and could not possibly travel and see these documents with my eyes, but I am sure of my people and can swear on what they say. Attached are some copies of e-mails we exchanged. I do not know Paola Massalin, who found the autograph. Her address is also listed in the attachment in case you want to enquire further.

"Konstantinsbasilika" im Abschintt Sant' Andrea in Mantua

Hey Leute ich habe eine Frage zu folgendem Abschnitt:

" Vorbild für den Bau waren römische Bauwerke, vor allem die Konstantinbasilika, die ebenfalls seitliche Nischen besitzt und von denen Alberti zusätzlich die Kassettierung für das mächtige Tonnengewölbe ableitet." in diesem Artikel

Es wird wohl die ehemalige Konstantinsbasilika in Rom gemeint, dem Vorgängerbau des jetzigen Petersdom, und nicht die Konstantinsbasilika in Tier, wo wenn mann googlet hingelangt - die aber, wie auf ihrem Grundriss zu erkennen ist, KEINE Seitenkappellen hat.
