Portrait of Tarabai

[Quelltext bearbeiten]

Please note that that there are only four known portraits of Tarabai, which were painted a few centuries after her death. I've personally uploaded them on the wikimedia category https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Tarabai_of_Kolhapur . The earlier image was not only unsourced, it was a typically Rajput painting. I hope this edit will improve the quality of the article. --Pratishkhedekar (Diskussion) 19:42, 22. Dez. 2020 (CET)Beantworten

In how far is one artists interpretation (who was born over two centuries after the death of the subject) better than another one? How does that improve the article? --Geist, der stets verneint (quatschen?|Fauler Sack?) 19:49, 22. Dez. 2020 (CET)Beantworten
The earlier portrait doesn't have an artist, no proper source, not is it in the proper native artistic style. The portrait I've linked to was done by renowned art director Baburao Painter, it was commissioned by Shahaji, the Chhatrapati of Kolhapur state in 1953. Tarabai being the founder of this state, and Shahaji being a lineal descendant, my option has a better claim to be placed in this article. Also, This painting is still housed in the New Palace museum, Kolhapur. --Pratishkhedekar (Diskussion) 19:57, 22. Dez. 2020 (CET)Beantworten
Source is given in the file page: "'The Great Marathas' by V. R. Raghu (1870-1946)". Having artwork comissioned by a descendant is rather detrimental in my opinion, as it is an incentive for the artist to beauty things up. --Geist, der stets verneint (quatschen?|Fauler Sack?) 20:10, 22. That book doesn't exist. It's made up. There's no such book in existence. If artwork commissioned by descendent is detrimental, then I've three more artworks to choose from. You are free to choose whichever of these from the category I've given above. However, that does not mean that a questionable portrait be used. In fact it should've been deleted off wiki long ago. --Pratishkhedekar (Diskussion) 17:43, 23. Dez. 2020 (CET)Beantworten

Another wrong sketch of Tarabai

[Quelltext bearbeiten]

Please note that the sketch as shown in link below is from a children's story book featuring the semi-legendary Rajput Queen Tarabai, who is supposed to have lived during 15th century. The archive link to the children's book is also given below. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datei:Tarabai_(1675%E2%80%931761_CE).jpg https://archive.org/details/048-ack-tarabai-eng/ --Pratishkhedekar (Diskussion) 20:06, 22.
