Gloria Lee Sickal Gaither ist eine US-amerikanische Gospel-Sängerin und Texterin.

Die als Gloria Sickal 1942 geborene Gloria Lee Sickal Gaither[1] wuchs in Battle Creek, Michigan auf. Sie war die Tochter eines Pastors und hatte bereits als junge Frau eine Passion für Literatur und das Schreiben.[2]

Sie besuchte die Clare High School in Clare in Michigan und später das Anderson College, wo sie 1963 cum laude in Französisch, Englisch und Soziologie graduierte. Sie arbeitete dann als Lehrerin für Englisch und Französisch an einer High School.[3]

Diese High School, die Alexandria Monroe High School war auch der Ort, wo sie Bill Gaither traf. Beide verliebten sich und heirateten 1962[2] im Dezember. im Jahr 1967 widmeten sie sich vollständig der musikalischen Arbeit[4] und gründete mit Bill und dessen Bruder Danny Gaither das Bill Gaither Trio.[4]

mit ihrem Mann hat Gloria Gaither mehr als 700 Lieder geschrieben. Dabei stammten ab den ersten Jahren die Texte der Lieder von ihr, während ihr Mann die Musik komponierte. Sie beschreibt die Natur ihrer Texte so, dass sie nicht, wie andere Lieder, über den Himmel und die Zeit dort, bzw. den Gang dorthin beschrieben, sondern alltägliche Probleme und wie Gott dabei hilft.[4]

Zusammen mit ihrem Mann half sie vielen Künstlern in der Branche Fuß zu fassen, so unter anderem Michael Englisch, Steve Green und Sandi Patty.

Sie hat über 40 Bücher geschrieben und publiziert im Steinbeck Academic Journal.[5] Darunter sind die bekannten Lieder He Touched Me, Because He lices und I Am a Promise.[2] Für zwanzig Lieder wurde sie mit dem Dove Award ausgezeichnet.

Sie war mit ihrem Ehemann Bill im Jahr 2000 die ersten Träger des Christian Songwriter of the Century der ASCAP.[4] Sie hatten eine wöchentliche Radiosendung, Gaither Music Hour, die nach Schätzungen pro Jahr 75 Millionen Menschen hörten.[4]

Sie betreibt das Geschäft Gaither Family Resources.[6]
