Association for Financial Markets in Europe[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]

The Association for Financial Markets in Europe (AFME) works as a bridge between between wholesale financial markets, politicians, regulators and the public. Core activities are Advocacy, Policy development, Communication and Co-ordination.[1] The association is headquartered in London and has offices in Brussels and Frankfurt am Main.[2]

The AFME was founded in November 2009 through the merger of the London Investment Banking Association (LIBA) and the European arm of the Securities Industries and Financial Markets Association. The following affiliates were also integrated:[4]

European Covered Bond Dealers Association (ECBDA) - this is now a part of the Credit division.

European High Yield Association (EHYA) - this now a part of the High Yield division.

European Primary Dealers Association (EPDA) - this is now a part of the Rates division.

European Primary Markets Division (EPMD) - this is now a part of the Equity Capital Markets division.

European Securitisation Forum (ESF) - this is now a part of the Securitisation division.

European Securities Services Forum (ESSF) - this is now a part of the Post Trade division.

The AFME is divided into 5 large divisions. Those are responsible for Policy and Compliance, Prudential regulation, Public Policy and Advocacy, Capital Markets and Global FX. AFME is also working together with the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), Asia Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (ASIFMA) and the Global Financial Markets Association (GFMA).[5] AFME`s current board consists of high profile managers from financial companies.[6]
