The company was founded in 1956 and started selling body shells that year. The company folded in 1960 when it split into TWM (Terry Wren Motors) based in Newark and Nordec Engineering & Panel Company based in the original premises in London. Both companies produced the "Excel" bodyshell but only Nordec continued to make the "Roadster". Those two companies continued trading until about the middle of 1962.

The company was formed by two brothers: Clive and Terry Wren. The first body built was the "Roadster" designed for use as a racing car. This was followed by a more robust shell designed as a road car called the "Excel". Finally a "GT" model was made, also for racing. It was created by moulding a coupe-style hardtop onto a "Roadster" shell and then making a new set of moulds. The company also sold several chassis and even the odd complete car as well as other parts used to build their cars such as radiators, windscreens, independent suspension conversions, fuel tanks. The bodies were designed to fit on a Ford Popular or other 7'6" chassis. Their own chassis had the same dimensions but were designed to take BMC A-series, Coventry Climax engines as well as the more usual 1172cc sidevalve Ford engine.
