In 2018 I completed the edition of Julius Eastman’s Second Symphony and I conducted the world premiere of it with Mannes Orchestra. In a few days, New York Philharmonics will be the first professional orchestra ever to program this formidable composition, using my edition: I could not be more proud. In preparation for that concert, Gary Padmore, Director of Education and Community Engagement at NYPhil, arranged this awesome zoom panel. I am happy to be included in this event, and to have an opportunity to learn from all the other participants. Thank you Mary Jane for timely saving Eastman’s music before it disappeared, and to Nemo for keeping this unfinished score safe for decades.
