"Soye" suggests [soːjə], and spelling it "Szoege" makes much sense (SZ instead of S so that it isn't read [z], OE instead of O or OO because that was a popular northern convention), but I'm not sure about G – was it pronounced [j], [ʝ] or [ɣ]? Perhaps it shifted through all these sounds in succenssion?
(The pronunciation [t͡søːgə], hinted at by Russian Цёге, is unlikely to be old, since Low German doesn't use [t͡s] in native vocabulary, does it?) 89.64.70.34 15:40, 7. Apr. 2023 (CEST)
