Flora Indica ist ein 1768 erschienenes Werk von Nicolaas Laurens Burman. Die Flora „Ostindiens“ ist eines der ersten Werke, das auf dem Linneschen System beruht.

Flora indica: cui accedit series zoophytorum indicorum, nec non prodromus florae capensis erschien 1768 im Quartformat. Das Werk wurde von Cornelius Haak in Leiden und Johannes Schreuder in Amsterdam gemeinschaftlich verlegt. Es enthält 68 unkolorierte Tafeln mit 178 Pflanzenabbildungen. Die Abbildungen stammen von Adriaan van der Laan (1684/90–1742/55). Der Beschreibungsteil umfasst 241 nummerierte Seiten.

Dem Werk beigefügt sind eine zweiseitige Liste von „Zoophyten“ (Series zoophytorum Indiae orientalis) sowie der 28 Seiten umfassende Vorbote einer Kapflora (Prodomus Florae Capensis), die nie zustande kam.

Flora Indica enthält kurze Beschreibungen von etwa 1300 Pflanzenarten, darunter etwa 240 Arten, die darin von Burman erstmals beschrieben werden. Alle anderen Arten schrieb er Carl von Linné zu. Außerdem schlug Burman in der Flora Indica fünf neue Gattungen vor: Clausena, Embelia, Porana, Usubis (= Allophylus) und Zaleya (= Trianthema) vor. Die letzten beiden Gattung sind nur noch Synonyme anderer Gattungen.

Flora Indica und Prodomus Florae Capensis beruhen maßgeblich auf den durch Burmans Vaters Johannes Burman zusammengetragenen Sammlungen von Willem Piso, Paul Hermann, Laurent Garcin (1683–1752), Jakob Breyne, Heinrich Bernhard Oldenland, Jan Hartog (1663–1722), Christiaan Kleynhoff, Hendrik Otto van Outgaarden und Franciscus Albertus Pryon. Dieses Material lag teilweise auch Linné vor. Im 1767 veröffentlichten ersten Teil von Mantissa Plantarum publizierte Linné etwa 20 Arten unter demselben Namen wie Burman (Homonyme), für weitere 25 Arten verwendete er andere Namen als Burman. Linnés Namen haben gegenüber denen von Burman Priorität. Burmans Namen sind daher illegitim.
