NVL B.V. & Co. KG is a Bremen based company in the shipbuilding industry and the lead company of the international NVL Group with shipyards in the northern German coastal region and additional locations in Australia, Bulgaria and Brunei. Under the umbrella brand of NVL (Naval Vessels Lürssen), NVL Group took over the newbuilding as well as repair activities of naval ships and coast guard vessels from the Lürssen Defence division.[1]

History[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]

NVL B.V. & Co. KG resulted from the separation of the Yacht and Defence divisions of Fr. Lürssen Werft GmbH & Co. KG. The company is the legal successor of the previous Lürssen Defence division. It continues to be part of the family-owned and managed Lürssen group of companies.[2]

NVL Group designs and builds naval ships and coast guard vessels for national and international markets. The portfolio of newbuildings covers naval surface vessel construction, including frigates, corvettes, fast patrol boats, logistic support ships, tenders and mine countermeasure vessels,[3] as well as offshore patrol vessels and coast guard vessels.[4] For the German Navy, NVL is the main contractor for the construction of five new corvettes (boats 6 to 10) of the Braunschweig class (K130). NVL is a prime partner to the Damen Group on the F126 Frigate program. On order for the German Navy are also two new replenishment ships (MBV707) and three new reconnaissance vessels (FDB424).[5]

On an international level, NVL is currently building two corvettes (MMPV90) for the Bulgarian Navy in Varna. At the same time, the building of a total of twelve new offshore patrol vessels is underway for the Royal Australian Navy, being performed by the NVL subsidiary Luerssen Australia.

The portfolio also covers repairs, maintenance and services for units from the German Navy and international naval forces.[6]

NVL Services bundles the areas of after-sales services, including spare parts delivery worldwide, training programmes for crews, and consultation services for maritime infrastructure projects.[7]
