Denys Ovenden
Denys William Ovenden (* 1. April 1922 in Uxbridge; † 26. November 2019) war ein britischer Natur- und Wildtierillustrator.

Ovenden studierte ab 1938 am Hornsey College of Art. Während des Kriegs diente er in Italien und Nordafrika. Danach arbeitete er als freischaffender Künstler in und um Buckinghamshire. Ovenden illustrierte alle Aspekte der Naturgeschichte, von Pilzen bis hin zu Meeresbewohnern, Vögeln und Säugetieren, Fischen und anderen Wasserlebewesen sowie Insekten. Zahlreiche Studien fertigte er in Gouache auf Karton an. Beispiele seines Schaffens sind die Werke Collins Field Guide to the Reptiles and Amphibians of Britain and Europe von E. Nicholas Arnold und John A. Burton, Insects of Britain and Western Europe von Michael Chinery und Grasshoppers and Allied Insects of Great Britain and Ireland von Judith Marshall und Edward Christopher Mount Haes sowie Veröffentlichungen über das Fliegenfischen, Dinosaurier, Schleimpilze und die Tierwelt der Galapagosinseln. 2008 schuf er im Alter von 86 Jahren das Plakat zur BBC-Fernsehserie Kaltblütig – Die Welt der Drachen, Echsen und Amphibien von David Attenborough.
