Seit 1980 wird bei den Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards der Beste Experimentalfilm bzw. Independentfilm mit dem Experimental/Independent Film/Video Award (seit 1999 The Douglas Edwards Experimental/Independent Film/Video Award) geehrt.
